I was able to do a birthday party for my son's fifth birthday and it was a big hit. He loved the guests, the food, the gifts, the cake....well everything. After that I had to quit my job because big things came up and we decided that it was best for me to stay home again with my children. After that I was able to focus om my final classes that I had left and I was able to finish college and finally graduate and complete my goal. I was so proud that day. I am glad that I was able to get it done while I was here in Hawaii.
During this time my husband went ahead and did his re-enlistment ceremony in the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor, HI. It was amazing. We got to meet so many navy officers it was amazing. I had never seen so many Navy men in their elegant attire in person before. My kids got to see a big boat, lots of fishes. My husband got an opportunity to swear in in front of all his battle buddies and I got to stand beside him proud of his accomplishments.
Ladies and gentleman we are moving to......Fort Drum, NY. We will be living there for five years. Now I know what you are thinking. What is an island girl going to do in snow weather? Well, I will be making lots of memories and having a new adventure.I have seen snow before but never in my life have I lived in it which is a very different thing. I am willing to accept that I will be quite upset when we first get there because of the weather conditions, etc. but who isn't upset when they first move somewhere new? There is way too much stress involved.
During the summer we decided to go on vacation a fly to the mainland to surprise my mother and visit the rest of the family. Of course plane tickets from Honolulu to Atlanta for a family of four was nowhere near affordable. But we decided that taking a Space A flight through the military would be our best shot and the most affordable way. Knowing that it was summer time, it was a risky decision because it is the busiest time of the year for these type of flights.
We didn't get lucky enough to hop on the flight that we wanted specifically but we were able to fly to Sacramento, CA and then drove all the way to Georgia. Which let me tell you it was not easy.
My mother was very emotional when I showed up at her door and surprised her. She was taken by surprise and had no clue at all that I was coming. I am glad that I got to see her, my sisters, I met another niece for the first time (which was exciting) and my kids got to see everyone in general. I was so glad that we got to do the trip. Coming back was a little harder but it was worth it at the end. Would I ever do it again from Hawaii NOPE! I think that depending what time of the year it is the better but again I think that military flights are more convenient if you are flying to Asia or Europe.
Another cool new thing that happened in August was the first day of Kindergarten for my son. I thought that I was going to be very emotional and not keep it together but I wasn't. I was so glad that he got to go to school. The best thing is...he loves it. Of course, he has his moments where he doesn't want to do the work but with a lot of time and patience we are getting there.
My daughter turned three in October. That was exciting. We didn't really do a big party or anything I just made her a cake here and later on we took her to Chuck E. Cheese and that was good enough for her. Immediately after that we started potty training and let me just say that as of right now, we are doing great so far. Sure there are a couple of bumps here and there but we are making progress. After that came my birthday. The big 2-6. I can't believe I am almost 30...time sure flies.
Now we are looking forward to the Holidays and of course getting everything ready to leave this island and start our new journey in a new place.
Till Next Time,
K~
