A Day of Creativity

Yesterday was a day of creativity for me. We decided that we wanted sushi for dinner but we didn't want to go out and spend money for it. So I went to the Commissary and purchased everything that we needed to make some sushi at home.
My experience wit hit was good. It is a lot of fun to do, but there are certain things that are harder than it looks. For example, washing  the rice took forever. The recipe said to keep rinsing the rice until the water was clear. It took more than two washes to get the water clear. After awhile it got irritating and boring to do but it was done. Cooking the rice on the stove was easy. My rice cooker broke so I couldn't use it.
I found these shrimp tempura already made at the store and I placed them in the oven to cook them. They were delicious. After that, I put the rice on the dried seaweed, ingredients and rolled. Rolling sushi is very hard and messy. Kudos to those who have a business on this and are experts because my first two rolls were a mess. The hubby said that the sushi was delicious. There were a few ingredients that I couldn't find but we made it work.
Later on last night we decided to go to the movies to watch Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2. We took the kids with us and we told Gabi that he was  going to see a dragon and a snake since he loves them. Overall  they behaved very well. The baby fell asleep as soon as the movie started and Gabi wouldn't stop talking about the dragon and  the snake. He was way to excited to see those two things and the castle together with the rest of the scenery.
The movie was good. I didn't read the last book but my husband said that it was very close to what the book was and that there was a lot of people that died in  the story and if they were to explain all of it in detail, the movie would've probably been rated R.
Overall it was a good day yesterday. Today we are going to make some chicken pinchos on  the grill. Updates to come on that later.
These are some photos from yesterday:

Just Dance-ing

Just Dace with the girls on July 4th, 2011.

Slow Day at Home

Today was a slow day at home. It was a regular day of doing laundry and play time with the kids. I decided to cut Gabi's hair today and I gave him his first fade. He didn't cry much like he does normally but he kept moving a lot so tomorrow I have to fix up his hair a little bit. I think it looks okay, considering that I am not an expert at it and I am saving myself about 7 dollars from going to the Barbershop and the PX.
I got to talk to my mother today on Skype. I am thankful that I got a chance to do that because I haven't seen her in awhile. As much as I know that she is okay, part of me always worries about her because of the delicate condition that she has and the current situation that she is going through right now. If you are reading this mom I love you, you are a strong woman and mother and you have all of our support, even though we are far away.
The hubby got to work in Kahuku today so he is a little worn out from getting up early and coming home late. The good news on that is that he will be getting a car pretty soon so I can have my car back and not worry about dropping him off or him dropping off the car for me so I can do appointments with the kids. Maybe this will be good for me and get me to stay out of the house a little more and get Gabi to go to the park and maybe do play dates. He loves the park.
On another note, I am starting school on August 1st. My financial advisor and I applied for my FA and entered in my courses for this first quarter to have it approved and receive my money. FAFSA gave a pretty good Pell Grant so I don't have to worry about taking out a loan. I hope I can get to finish my degree during my time here in Hawaii. I want to at least have my Associates degree while my hubby completes his term here. The next duty station is going to give me focus on a Bachelor's degree...hopefully. [fingers crossed]
Well that is a summary of my date. Tomorrow is another day and I thank god for giving me the energy he gave me today...stress free!!!

W I C Update

This afternoon the kids and I went to our follow up WIC appointment. My baby girl weighed 16 pounds and 6 ounces and she is 25 inches long...tiny little thing but it is normal, ;-), she is right on track and I am so happy to hear that. I got the baby on some Similac Advance Sensitive. I hope that helps her with the reflux that she has and with the spit up.
I am so thankful for being on WIC. I never thought that I would rely on these vouchers so much until I got here and realized the price of everything and how much you spend on food, formula, etc. a month. I'm sure some people might think that because we are in the military we have money but trust me, there are some couples out there (including myself) who struggles and live pay check to paycheck paying their debts.
Afterwards, I spent a couple of hours with my kids and our dog, Kira, at one of our friends house just so our dogs can socialize and I believe that they did very good for a first time visit.
I was in the mood for soup yesterday so I made a big pot of it. Still eating some today. Yum! Made the hubby some bacon and cheese hamburgers with a side of some fried plantains (which he hasn't had in a while).
Well that about covers a small summary of my afternoon. Now its time to finish my soup and enjoy my Netflix of Sex and the City Season 3 Disc 2.

This is the appetizer that I made the hubby today before he chowed down on the hamburgers.

Gabi playing around.

Attached is a video of my crazy and yet wonderful 3 year old playing with oven mitts. Something that he does every day. He loves Yo-Gabba Gabba so he sings the songs almost every day and I help him.
Enjoy!

This is an oldie

These videos are a little old but I am going to post them anyway.
These are of Kamila when she was about 3 months old and got her ears pierced at Claire's back in Georgia.

Beach pictures

Aloha!
We went to Threee Tables beach up in the North Shore this past weekend. Had a very nice time with the hubby and the kids. FYI~ We all got a little sunburned from this day. Enjoy!
